The Pireaus port recently welcomed two of the largest cruise ships in the world, the “Spectrum of the Seas” of Royal Caribbean, and the “Le Bougainville” of Ponant.

“Spectrum of the Seas” was welcomed by Piraeus Port Authority (PPA) Deputy CEO Weng Lin and other company executives, as well as representatives of cruise associations.

“Piraeus has the largest cruise terminal in Eastern Mediterranean. It is a modern and safe port which can accommodate the largest ships, providing quality services according to ISO international standards,” Lin said.

Furthermore, data for the first three months of the year and bookings for 2019, reveal the positive homeporting prospects of Piraeus, which is a strategic objective of the PPA management.

According to an announcement, the newly built “Spectrum of the Seas” is 348 meters long, weighs 168,000 tons and has a capacity of 4,246 passengers.

It is equipped with the latest modern and innovative facilities in technology and entertainment, while its construction costed approximately $1 billion.

During the welcoming event, Weng Lin offered an honorary plaque and gifts to its Captain, Charles Sigmund Teige.
